Breaking the Cycle

Your Heart’s Cry

I see you following the same path I’ve taken. Following close on the heels of my past failures. The sins of the father have been passed down to the son. The iniquities of the mother are the dowry of the daughter. The cycle continues: poverty, alcoholism, obesity, depression, fear. Each cycle is held by a root of torment, deep within our generational line. With every child born, our prayer is that the cycle will be broken, and the chains of this bondage will be loosed. Yet, here we remain, bound and yearning to be free. Circling once again, as new birth brings in another generation of the enslaved and downtrodden.

The LORD your God is with you, the Mighty Warrior who saves. He will take great delight in you; in his love he will no longer rebuke you, but will rejoice over you with singing. Zephaniah 3:17 NIV

His Reply

Every captive shall be set free through the acceptance of the finished work of the cross. Sin has reigned for too long within your household. This cycle of self-destructive behavior is long past its termination date. Begin by determining what is at the core of this cycle. Repent of your part in the behaviors that keep this cycle alive. Next, stop battling with your weapons and exchange them for Mine. The fight for your freedom is not with flesh and blood, but with powers and principalities. You will only be successful when you draw on My power and not your own. Lastly, align your will with My will and align your words with My words. Resist falling back into the cycle again, and use the power of your tongue to speak blessings over your future.

Death and life are in the power of the tongue. Proverbs 18:21 NKJV
