Your Heart’s Cry
I am affected by the decisions of others. What I see them do drives my choices and directs my course. At times, their decisions have led me to a place I didn’t want to go, but I followed anyway. My desire to be part of the in-crowd has robbed me of personal choice. I’m influenced by their judgment. I have let them make up my mind for me. I’ve lost my individuality in my desire to be accepted. My desire to please them is now displeasing to me. I want the freedom to choose my own course, but I want them to continue to let me into their circle even when I don’t follow their lead. Can I be me and still be a part of the clique? Is it possible to not blend in and still be in without being left out?
Do not be misled: “Bad company corrupts good character.” 1 Corinthians 15:33 NIV
Long before you recognized your need to be accepted, I accepted you. I chose you in the middle of all that held you captive, because I have already seen you walking free. Free from the chains of the need to please others. Free from the bondage of performance. There is freedom in living for the applause of nail-scarred hands. There is freedom in living in the center of My will for your life. Seek Me for the answers. Seek Me when you need guidance along life’s path. It is My desire to see you free. You always have a choice with Me. Blessings or cursings, life or death—it’s always your choice. Choose the path that leads you closer to Me and not the one which leads you to a place of emotional distress and confusion. My path is the one that will be well lit with the light of eternal love.
See what great love the Father has lavished on us, that we should be called children of God! And that is what we are! The reason the world does not know us is that it did not know him. 1 John 3:1 NIV
