Nurture Me, Lord
With the rich soil
Of Your Word.
Plant in me
Seeds of kindness,
Goodness and love.
With Your living water
That I may grow
In Your image
In Your heavenly garden.
Read John 17:20-23
For in him we live and move and have our being. Acts 17:28
I love to watch couples ice skate in competitions. The best pairs skate in unison, as if they were one. They anticipate each other’s moves and rarely make a mistake. To reach this stage of excellence, they spend countless hours practicing. They also accept continual criticism and correction from their coaches. But their hard work pays off when they receive recognition from the judges and the crowd.
God wants us to walk in unison with Him. Just as He and the Father are one, He wants us to be one with Him. To become like Him also takes practice. Just as the skaters study each other’s moves, we must study God’s Word to learn how He moves and acts so we can become like Him. We must also be willing to accept criticism and correction from the Lord. But our reward for being one with Him is far greater than a skater’s medal or trophy—we will spend eternity with Him in heaven.
