Lord, you are my Redeemer,
my Refuge,
the Rock of my salvation.

You are the Ruler.

You are Royalty.

You Reign.

You Remove our sins far from us.

You are Righteous.

Do not fear, for I have redeemed you; I have called you by name; you are Mine! When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and through the rivers, they will not overflow you. (Isa. 43:1-2 NASB)

Lord, may I come boldly before you, knowing that what I ask in your will, I will Receive.

Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives; the one who seeks finds; and to the one who knocks, the door will be opened. Which of you, if your son asks for bread, will give him a stone? (Matt. 7:7-9 NIV)

A refuge and a rock

How comforting are these two concepts. We all need a refuge, don’t we? A place we can go and be safe. The Bible contains many pictures of God as our refuge: he is our strong tower, our rock, and our fortress.

“For you have been my refuge, a strong tower against the foe” (Ps. 61:3 NIV).

“The Lord is my rock, my fortress and my deliverer; my God is my rock, in whom I take refuge, my shield and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold” (Ps. 18:2 NIV).

I love the lyrics of “He Hideth My Soul in the Cleft of the Rock” by Fanny Crosby.

He hideth my soul in the cleft of the rock
That shadows a dry, thirsty land;
He hideth my life in the depths of His love
And covers me there with His hand

That’s what I need when I’m frantic, terrified, or just plain worried. I need God to cover me with his hand, calm me, and keep me safe. I take great comfort in knowing that he will do this for me and for my loved ones. And he’ll do it for you and yours as well.
