You are Up above
Where can I go from your Spirit? Where can I flee from your presence? If I go up to the heavens, you are there; if I make my bed in the depths, you are there. (Ps. 139:7-8 NIV)
Lord, may I dwell with your people in Unity.
Behold, how good and how pleasant it is For brethren to dwell together in unity! (Ps. 133:1 NKJV)
Everywhere, all the time
Ubiquitous is an interesting word. It describes something that seems to be everywhere, all the time.
Saying to someone, “Hi, how are you?” without the slightest expectation of learning or even caring how he or she is—is ubiquitous. We do it all the time and it is said to us constantly. But we know, and the other person knows, that we surely do not expect a true or accurate answer, such as, “My mother is terminally ill and we had to engage hospice over the weekend.” Or “I don’t know how I’m going to pay my bills because all of my resources and savings have run out and I haven’t been able to get a job after two years of looking.”
The ubiquitous answer, and the one we expect, is, “Fine. How are you?”
Advertisements are ubiquitous during TV and radio shows. They are constant and frequent.
These things can be annoying and shallow, but we see or hear them time and time again.
God, on the other hand, is ubiquitous in a wonderful way because he is truly everywhere, all the time. He’s always with us. He is never far away and responds when we speak his name and call on him.
To me, that’s pretty great.
